A surprising collaboration is revealed as Eiichiro Oda’s (尾田栄一郎) worldwide manga hit One Piece joins hands with Japanese boy band Arashi for the MV of their new single “A-RA-SHI: Reborn”.
The members of Arashi has teleported to the colorful world of One Piece, while they even join the adventure of the straw hat crew. A teaser video and new visual illustrated by Oda are revealed for this exciting collaboration. The full version of the MV will stream on 4th January 2020.
The illustrated poster will be a present attached to the Weekly Shōnen Jump New Year Edition published on 4th January 2020.
The project is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Arashi. The group formed in 1999 under the Johnny & Associates agency, and is made up of Jun Matsumoto (松本潤), Satoshi Ohno (大野智), Sho Sakurai (櫻井翔), Masaki Aiba (相葉雅紀), and Kazunari Ninomiya (二宮 和也).
Oda commented that he had attended the concerts of Arashi and was moved by the performance of the group. “I was so overwhelmed by their stage performance, but when I met them in person, they were so friendly and nice. It is a gap moe! I am so glad that I would be able to participate in their 20th-anniversary celebration.”
Jun Matsumoto from Arashi expressed gratitude for this dreamy collaboration. “It was coincidentally the 20th anniversary for our group and also for the anime adaptation of One Piece. I have been a fan of One Piece since it started to serialize, and this collaboration is like a dream come true.”
