A new anime project is announced for 07th Expansion’s murder mysteries video game Higurashi When They Cry (ひぐらしのなく頃に), together with a new visual and teaser video.
The project will be animated by Passione with character designs by “Bakemonogatari’s” Akio Watanabe (渡辺明夫). Details about the anime, including dates and format, are not yet revealed.

▍About Higurashi When They Cry
Higurashi When They Cry (ひぐらしのなく頃に) is a Japanese murder mystery dōjin visual novel series produced by 07th Expansion. The first game in the series, Onikakushi-hen, was released in 2002, and the eighth and final game in the original PC series, Matsuribayashi-hen, was released in 2006.
Two anime television series produced by Studio Deen aired in 2006 and 2007; a third anime adaptation was released as an original video animation (OVA) series in 2009.
