Hirotsugu Ryusen’s (りゅうせんひろつぐ) fantasy light novel series “She Professed Herself the Pupil of the Wiseman” (賢者の弟子を名乗る賢者) is confirmed to inspire a TV anime adaptation.
▍About the Series
Ryusen began serializing the novel in the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” website in April 2012 and was collected into 12 volumes by GC Novels. The series has published over one million copies. The series’ 13th volumes will be released on 29th May 2020.
The story centers on Sakimori Kagami (咲森 鑑), who plays a VRMMORPG called Arch Earth Online. He is a veteran player with the name and appearance similar to an elderly bearded wizard from a certain book about a ring.
One day he purchases an appearance change item as a last resort to spend expiring currency and gets the idea of choosing what he would want to look like if his character was ever a girl. When he falls asleep playing the game one night, he awakens inside the game’s world as his character, but now in the form of a cute girl.
