As a new project for the 20th anniversary of Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist series, Warner Bros. Interactive announced two new Fullmetal Alchemist live-action movies. The two movies, titled “Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conclusion: Scar the Avenger” and “Fullmetal Alchemist: The Last Training” will open in Japan on May 20 and June 24 respectively.
The two movies are sequels to the 2017 live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie, which was directed by Fumihiko Sori (Ping Pong) and released internationally in 2018 as a Netflix streaming exclusive. Ryosuke Yamada and Dean Fujioka will reprise their roles as Edward Elric and Roy Mustang respectively.
Japanese-American actor Mackenyu will portray Scar in the new movies. He is also known to star in a number of movies based on anime and manga, including Rurouni Kenshin and the upcoming One Piece live-action series.
Alongside this, two new visuals were shown. In the first visual, Edward is kneeling with a shocked look on his face after his right arm was destroyed, and behind him, Alphonse, whose armor body was destroyed, is slumped over.
On the second visual, we see Scar holding his right arm, which is engraved with the alchemy of decomposition, with a sharp gaze as if hunting his prey. A poster combining the two visuals will be displayed in theaters.
