Developed by a husband-and-wife couple, Rum’s Spring & Dungeon is an indie title that piques our interest with a super idle combat system and a nostalgic art style, giving a classic throwback to the early 90s. Aside from being a simple, casual friendly auto-battler, Rum’s Spring & Dungeon has so much more to offer with a unique style on its own.
▍A Lackluster Explanation of Story
Rum’s Spring & Dungeon follows the fantasy adventure Yuina, a little girl who fell into a mysterious place and encounters Ram, a girl who is sealed deep within the dungeon. How deep? Well deep enough to make the whole game about it. Yuina, being the pure-hearted maiden takes it upon herself to rescue the sealed girl Ram with the help of her faithful friends, whom she makes along the journey.
The game presents this whole story in a few dialogues between the 2 girls in flashcard styles enhanced by 2D artwork. But the scenario remains short and simple, just to give you an overview of the game’s worldview and setting. You can even skip it and get right into battles.
▍Idle Combat System with Minimum Manual Efforts Required
If tactical, flashy, and beautifully animated skills are your taste, then Rum’s Spring & Dungeon won’t be able to provide the experience you desired. The minimum graphical style in combat won’t give you much to see, not even how character attack the enemies. But in other words, it do provide an extremely casual gaming experience with minimum manual efforts and time are required in battles.
Players make a formation of 6 heroes and the characters will automatically use the skills of their own. To keep the game a little bit more engaging, the game does give some helpful tips in the starting tutorial, like putting the Defender characters in front of your party, while keeping the healers at the back.
You can further increase the stats of individual heroes by selecting that hero. These stats include Health, Defense, Magical attacks, and Critical Hit Rate. Basic RPG elements can also be found, including Classes, where some heroes will deal more damage while other specializes in taking damages. Players can level up their heroes with the Experience they farm in the dungeons.
▍A Bunch of Quality of Life Features
Other important highlights of the combat system in Rum’s Spring & Dungeon are the 3 big Quality of Life features: Auto-Repeat, Auto-Sweep, and 20X Speed Up.
You can say that it is a true Idle game as it has bunch of features that reduce the time spent in the game. You can Auto-Sweep stages with one click only and head all the way to the highest level of the dungeon. Though the time that you Auto-Sweep is limited, you can still utilize the Auto-Repeat and 20x Speed Up function to keep the battles ongoing and farming the same stages. This makes grinding extremely such a breeze that you can easily progress the game’s content in a short period of time.
▍Collect the Kawaii Bishojo in Gacha
Rum’s Spring & Dungeon is also a hero collector game with a range of girls available for selection. But as any Japanese gacha game that are flooding the market, it is never easy to summon a 5-Star girls with a mere 2% drop rate. But it definitely worth the when you finally get a rare characters with lovely graphics as such.
The game also has a handy pity system where if you don’t summon a 5-Star character in 30 summons, it will increase the rate for summoning a 5-Star by 1% for each summon after 30 summons. This is the soft pity while the hard pity exists at 50 summons where a 5-Star character is guaranteed. Another amazing thing is that the shop will give free gems to players daily from the Shop, so make sure to collect it!
▍Collect Artifacts to Build the Characters
Rum’s Spring & Dungeon, as we mentioned, is all about collecting beautiful girls. The artwork is gorgeous and fits the traditional casual friendly Idle style that this game is aiming for. Players can view their collected girls in the Hero section where they can further see the 2D full-fledged artwork of the hero.
Players can obtain different Artifacts while farming the dungeons. The deeper the floors you will clear, the better-quality Artifacts you can find. Equipping Artifacts to the girls can raise their stats and make them even stronger. Some Artifacts are also exclusive to particular girls to keep you farming the same stages nonstop.

Rum’s Spring & Dungeon is a must-try for players who are seeking an overly casual Idle waifu game. The game features amazing Quality of Life features that let the players play it anywhere and anytime as the game doesn’t require much manual input and dedication. But this super idle system won’t be able satisfy those who are looking for games with more strategic or action elements.
