Manga creator Makoto Akui revealed on her Twitter that the Ao no Orchestra/ The Blue Orchestra manga is getting a TV anime adaptation. She also shared a new illustration to commemorate the announcement.
In addition to the animation, three other projects have been announced, the first of which is a collaboration with the Deutsche Grammophon label, a classical music label. A collaboration project with American composer John Williams, known for his work on the Star Wars and Harry Potter series, is currently underway, details of which will be announced later.
▍Pop-Up In Ikebukuro
A pop-up shop will be held from April 29 to May 15 at P’PARCO in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. In addition to selling goods, there will be a photo spot with panels of the characters on display. Also, for every 3,000 yen spent on “Blue Orchestra” goods including tax, a limited edition postcard will be given away at random. Details can be found on the special site.
▍Collab with NewDays
In addition, a collaboration project with NewDays started today, April 12. Four stores will be participating: the Ikebukuro, Makuhari, and Kaihinmakuhari stores located outside the east exit of JR Ikebukuro Station, and the Shin Matsudo Station store in the Shin Matsudo area where the manga is set.
At each location, The Blue Orchestra series merch will be available in the stores for a limited time. For every 2,000 yen spent on goods at participating stores, a limited edition sticker will be given at random alongside your purchase. Life-size panels of the characters will also be displayed in the stores.
▍About Ao no Orchestra
Ao no Orchestra is a manga written and illustrated by Makoto Akui, who launched the manga in Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app in 2017. Shogakukan published the manga’s ninth compiled book volume in April 2021, and it will publish the 10th volume on April 19.
In the manga, the story follows Hajime Aono, a violin prodigy, who stopped playing violin for his own personal reasons. As the story progresses, he gets to know a girl who told him about a high school with a prestigious school orchestra, and suddenly, the gears in the clock of Aono’s life began to turn again. This is the story of a youth drama that brings forth the harmony between music and the heart.
