Toei Animation revealed a new teaser video for its upcoming One Piece Film Red, the franchise’s latest anime film, highlighting a mysterious girl, Uta, who was previously described as “holding the key to the original story.” Now with the teaser video, she is officially unveiled to be the daughter of Shanks, the legendary captain of the Red-Haired Pirate Crew and one of the Four Emperors in the second half of the grand line.
The trailer begins with Red Hair Shanks speaking to a young Uta while they look out into the distance. He says to her, “though we’re apart, you’ll always be my daughter.” Clearly, the staff wasted no time dropping such a huge bombshell of a revelation.
A few clips pass by of other characters before Luffy gets angry about Uta’s current activities. It appears that Uta might not be the innocent character type that shows in her lovely appearance.
The stage of One Piece Film Red is an island where the world-famous diva Uta will perform for the first time in front of the public. Uta’s singing voice, which is transmitted while hiding her identity, is said to be too wonderful that it is “another dimension.” Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates counterpart, who came to the island to enjoy her angelic voice, learned that Uta was Shanks’ daughter while fans all over the world filled the venue. The story of Shanks, who is still a mysterious person, Uta, and Luffy are unfolded.
The teaser video also addresses a newly revealed original character, Gordon, a large man with a big scar on his head, who seems to know both Uta and Shank. The character designs of Uta, Shank, and Gordon were also revealed.
As the fourth installment of the “ONE PIECE FILM” series, One Piece Film Red will open in Japan on August 6, 2022. Oda himself is serving as executive producer and Code Geass creator Goro Taniguchi will direct the film. One Piece Film Gold scriptwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be providing the script.
