Enad Global 7 ceased the development of the Marvel MMORPG project at Daybreak Games, developers of DC Universe Online. This announcement came after the company said it re-evaluated the development risk and determined that it would reallocate resources to focus on alternative long-term projects.
As a result, EG7 has stated it will continue investing in smaller-sized projects, including enhancements to other games in their portfolio such as The Lords of the Rings Online, DC Universe Online, and other first-party titles.
▍What Was The Marvel MMORPG Project?
In an investor presentation in Q3 of 2021, EG7 presented the business dealings, sales highlights, and performances of their game projects. One project, in particular, was to be something they were going to work on in the long-term and it was an unnamed AAA Marvel MMORPG game. This presentation was conducted in November 2021, and as such, this announcement comes 6 months after the announcement.
EG7 is a Swedish games holding company, originally known as Toadman Interactive. EG7 currently owns multiple video games studios, including Daybreak Game Company, which was previously known as Sony Online Entertainment. Their works include large-scale MMOs such as Planetside 2, DC Universe Online, and The Lord of the Rings Online.
